Scientific Reports是國際權威雜志《自然》旗下的綜合性科學期刊，日前，中國科學院水生生物研究所的謝平研究員在博客上披露，在郵件溝通中，該刊要求作者在包含臺灣的中國地圖中用“大中華”，并要求刪掉南海九段線。此事隨后引起該雜志編輯部關注，向原作者發郵件對事件做了澄清與說明。Nature Asia網站也發布了正式聲明的中英文對照版。聲明表示，這些要求都屬于建議性質，是非強制性的，研究者可自行加以選擇。

8月20日，謝平在科學網的博客中稱，“學術本應該是非政治的，可有一些西方生產的雜志卻不愿如此，它們一方面大賺中國人的錢財(大發文章，高價收費)，一方面還要上演反華的伎倆，掛著Nature(《自然》)出版集團旗號的Scientific Reports就是其中一個。”

原來，最近一個朋友向謝平訴說了他的不悅經歷：他有篇文章即將在 Scientific Reports 發表，竟然收到刊物發來信函，要求包含臺灣的中國地圖中用大中華“Greater China”，并要求刪掉南海九段線“omit the nine-dashline”。謝平指出，大中華在人文和經濟層面上泛指中國地區和受中華文化主導或中華文化影響較大地區，如泛指則包括新加坡、馬來西亞等地，因此，就不是國家了，而是大中華地區了。

為此，謝平在博客中強調：“中國只有一個，沒有大小之分，臺灣是中國的一部分!九段線劃定了中國在南海的領土范圍，線內的島、礁、灘、沙以及海域均屬于中國領土，中國對它們享有主權。”

謝平呼吁中國學者共同抵制這個“賺足了中國人錢又反華”的雜志的政治化傾向，他還表示，這個雜志的灌水行為也十分明顯，口碑越來越差。
